EFCC arrests Fayose’s aide

Mr. Abiodun Agbele, an aide of Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has been ar­rested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commis­sion (EFCC).
Agbele was allegedly ar­rested in Lagos by EFCC operatives who had been on his trail for over a week. Ac­cording to Premium Times, Agbele allegedly received huge public funds from former Minister of defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro and delivered same to Governor Fayose.
He is currently being de­tained at the Lagos office of the anti-graft agency.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said he had not been briefed on the arrest.
The governor’s spokes­man, Mr. Lere Olayinka, confirmed the arrest.
In a statement, Olay­inka said: “Our attention has been drawn to the ar­rest of Mr Abiodun Agbele by the EFCC and we wish to say that we encourage the EFCC to carry out its investigations without politics as it is being done now.”
