Members of the Niger Delta Avengers, (NDA) have said that they are not in any dialogue with the Federal Government.
The group which was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s Thursday’s claim that his government has entered into talks with the Niger Delta militants with a view to ending the spate of pipeline bombings which have disrupted oil production, said it was not aware of any dialogue.
In a statement by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo and published on its website, the NDA accused the Buhari-led administration of insincerity to Nigerians and the country’s allies, stating that any talks with the government must involve the international community.
“President Buhari led government is not sincere to the Nigeria people and their foreign allies.
“If we are to engage in any peace talk we made it clear that the international community must be part of it. The President knows our demands. So they should stop deceiving the international oil companies, the general public and the international community,” the group said.
Reacting to the development Presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina pointed out that President Buhari did not specifically mention any militant group when it said the government was in talks with the militants. “The president did not name names,” Mr. Adesina was quoted as saying.
The Niger Delta Avengers has been the most notable militant group carrying out bombings of oil facilities since the inception of the present administration.
