THREAD: The Sad Truth about Nigerian Bosses/Mentors. By @BrianJDennis

They want you to grow but never to the point where you do not need them anymore or self sufficiency, so that’s why they will never give you enough money to set up a business for yourself, instead they give you handouts so you remain dependent on them.No matter how much you slave for them, no matter how much blood and sweat you put in for them, you are still an employee/protege and not their child. You will only be entitled to a salary even if you assist them in closing deals worth millions. The day you begin to make your own moves or try to secure your own contracts is the day they finally show their true colors. Some of them will feel like you’re using their resources to work for yourself, some will openly show resentment, how dare you try to dream??You will eventually be fired, asked to resign and slowly cut off.If you run into some financial mess and ask them to bail you out under the correct assumption that they have money to do that and you worked hardly for them, you will get the shock of your life, they will never give you everything you need to fix that problem. That day you will realize that the heart of man is desperately greedy.

They do not want you to be on the same financial level with their own children. Your bosses do not really love you. Don’t be deceived. No matter how close you are to them, you are not family, do not expect to be treated as one.

You will not get the deal that will change your life from your boss. You will not get recommendations for a higher paying opportunities or trust fund schemes from your boss. You are too useful so he doesn’t want you to leave.

In summary, one day you will eventually leave and find your own path. You will stand firmly, you will make it and people outside will think it was your boss that did it for you or gave you the deal or even pulled the strings. He will tell people how proud he is of your exploits even. But the world will never know the truth.

Dear young King/Queen, your boss will not change your life.If you’re still waiting for the day he will call you and ask you how much you need to set up yourself, you will never go out and set yourself up on your own. You will remain a slave forever.
