Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the National working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will on Wednesday, meet with the governors on the platform of the party to deliberate of its activities for the year.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had just released its full time table for electoral activities for the 2019 elections, and our Reporter gathered that the meeting, which will be its first in the year will deliberate on the party’s upcoming National Convention, as well its choice of President Muhammadu Buhari to run for a second term in the presidential election.
The Consultative meeting according to a party secretariat would also discuss the time table issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission last week.
“The governors and the NWC members would discuss the issue of Congresses and Convention. They would also look at the INEC timetable, as well as the demanding choice of the president for a second term”, a party secretariat source disclosed yesterday, noting that the meeting would be well attended by the governors as other national issues as regards APC winning the 2019 general elections would be discussed.
Meanwhile, the APC has assured Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration remains solidly committed to ensuring that every Nigerian in every part of the country is able to live a peacefully and go about their normal daily activities.
The party in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, to celebrate the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, noted that despite some security challenges Nigeria currently grapple with, there is every reason to hail the gallantry and patriotism of the Armed Forces, especially in degrading Boko Haram in the North East and militancy in the Niger Delta.
“As Nigeria celebrates the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day and the end of the Nigerian Civil War on January 15, 1970, the All Progressives Congress (APC) remembers our gallant military that fought for the unity and territorial integrity of our great country, Nigeria.
“One of the major campaign promises the APC made to Nigerians before the 2015 elections was the security of Nigerians. We assure Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration remains solidly committed to ensuring that every Nigerian in every part of the country is able to live a peacefully and go about their normal daily activities”, the statement read.
