A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bauchi state, Zakariya Sulumbut has stated that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara is allegedly plotting against President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 election, stressing that the Speaker is politically not inclined and supportive of Buhari’s re-election bid.
He made this claim during a radio programme monitored by DAILY POST in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Sulumbut based his claim that Dogara is not supportive of Buhari’s 2019 ambition on the decision of some of Dogara’s aides to contest elective positions in the 2019 elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said, “Currently, Dogara’s chief of staff’s posters to contest Taraba gubernatorial election has flooded strategic positions in Jalingo and his aide on special duty from Kaduna state just resigned and is alleged to contest under PDP among others. These are enough indication that the Speaker is not supportive of President Buhari’s re-election bid in 2019.”
The aide to Governor Abubakar on Youths maintained that Dogara is indirectly a member of the R-APC, a splinter group from the All Progressives Congress.
He also questioned the rationale behind the Speaker’s failure to accompany President Buhari to commiserate with victims of the windstorm in Bauchi and that of Azare fire disaster, pointing out that his absence during the President’s visit was another reason to justify his claim.
“If President Buhari can cut short all presidential engagements and storm Bauchi state to commiserate with people over the two disasters, there is no further excuses Dogara has to convince our people for not toeing the line of President in visiting the victims,” Sulumbut said.
He described Dogara’s feud with Governor Abubakar as a waste of people’s mandate and deliberate move to retard development in the state.
“Let me say it categorically, those claiming that Dogara has constructed roads are deceptive because only the President approved the project through the Speaker’s lobbying. And it’s wrong for the Speaker’s supporters not to mention Buhari’s strides in respect of the road project,” Sulumbut said.
The APC chieftain however exonerated himself from organizing protest against Dogara, insisting that those supporting the Speaker are enemies of President Buhari’s re-election bid.
“It’s a blatant lies of the highest order when Dogara’s supporters allege that I personally organised protest against the Speaker when all our attempts have been tilting towards Buhari’s re- election in 2019,” he added.
The APC chieftain ended by advising Dogara to sheathe his sword and be supportive of Governor Abubakar and Buhari’s re-election bid in 2019 before it’s too late.
