N100m theft: Lamido didn’t report case – AIG

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in-charge of Zone 1, Adamu Ibrahim on Monday denied arresting five domestic staff of former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, over their alleged involvement in stealing N100 million from a save in the Kano residence of the immediate-past governor.
An online newspaper  had reported that police had arrested five domestic staff for pilfering the save in Lamido’s wife wing of the house.
AIG Ibrahim, who spoke to journalists in his office, debunked the report that his men arrested five people in connection to the incident.
He also added that Lamido, who is also being tipped for 2019 Presidency, did not report any such case to the Police.
“I am the AIG in-charge of Zone 1 which covers Kano, Katsina and Jigawa; and I believe that I should know if the former governor reported any such case to the police stations within the area of my jurisdiction.”
AIG Ibrahim hinted that though there could be a case of theft which could be traced within the former governor’s household, the case remains under investigation because the culprits are still at large.
The former governor could not be reached as at the time of filling in this report, even as his Spokesman, Alhaji Umar Kyari, did not pick several calls put across to him.
