Northern leaders will support any action to end bloodbath by Herdsmen – Sultan

Amidst the tensed security challenges occasioned by activities of the herdsmen across the country, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Sa’ad Abubakar 111 has called for peace and understanding for a united northern region where everyone can work together for the benefit of the people irrespective of their faith and ethnic background. He made the pledge on behalf of the traditional and religious leaders from the North.
The concerned eminent monarch leader made the call yesterday at a joint meeting of governors and traditional rulers of the 19 Northern states held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
Worried at the continued bloodbath in various states of the region with telling effects on peace and unity, he lamented the lingering crisis in the North ranging from cattle rustling, clashes to herdsmen and farmers which he described as “worrisome, sad and disturbing”.
To this end, the Sultan advised that for the spate of violence plaguing the northern region to come to an end, those that have been responsible for such crisis must be punished.
According to him, the continued disturbing trend is simply because offenders who are carrying their dastardly act with impunity have not been punished in the past.
